The Spirit of a Dreamer:

/Yˈspirət/ noun

The one who is not afraid to wake up

and breathe life into dreams.

Memories fade, but the spirit remains

Just like a dream, the feelings echo, reverberating off the path you have taken and the one still to come

I hope what I do will wander along the paths I've crossed, like a warm breeze comforting you to move forward.

I wonder if I’m doing these words justice

Just this, is not enough

What is done, and what is yet to come, crashes over me with the weight of a thousand words left unsaid

Frustrated and scared, some choose to flee, setting it all ablaze

But I chose to reach into the fire to save what could have been

Burning with desire to create once more

But why?

Why would I pursue something so beautifully fleeting like a dream?

It may be a dream but I can hear its heart beating all around us

 I can see it

 Can you?

It's right in front of you, in front of us

Unnoticed, waiting to be realized

I can see it, frozen, chest tight, eyes wide, terrified

The path it was supposed to take slipped away like it was just a dream

Wrapping my arms around it I whisper…

It's okay

Just breathe

I know the way

Intangible

It’s funny, the things we see

The things we feel

The things we want to be

Inscrutable, dumbfounding, and yet, we still yearn for a glance

I see it, hidden, peaking through

I see it, winking at me

I wonder…

Is it mocking me?

Yes.

No!

Maybe?

But-

Wait!

It found me

Now we

For us, I trust in this

I see

But not truly, because I was blinded by what I thought you could be for me

I paved this road for us

Smoothed with care, washed with tears

Leading to a future I thought was clear

But now I see

This two-way street is more than me

It’s us

I trusted us

I believed in us

For us

But why is it only me, taking care of us?

What about me?

You leave

Now I see

This road I built is just for me

It is mine and strong because of me

Maybe one day, it will be traveled by more than me

But for now it is just me

And that is ok

Because what I yearned to see...

Was always inside of me

Loss

She is always there

Her appearance different to any who’ve met her gaze

Never welcomed but always there

In the loss she can be found

Forever they promised

Apart they had to be

The women holding the bridge lost her strength

The memories began to fade

The distance became to great

This was a great loss

The mother stumbled and water broke

She brought life into this world

Rushed away there was no cry

The women came in cradling the baby and the mother knew

Her sorrow could be felt throughout the house

This was a great loss

Two people one heart shared, separated

The limestone walls that once were her protector were now her captor

Her heart belonging to another, shall never see its mate

The women so beautiful held her chin and wiped the tears away

This was a great loss

The dozers gone, the destruction unseen

Concrete, metal, and glass now take root

The women stands covered in vines of green

Her tears run

The rain pours watering the cars and lots

She gestured towards her once beautiful land

Her eyes reflected the peaceful nature that was once there

This was a great loss

After the war the earth was still

She called to them

The beast  came circling down

She stood there with clothes tattered

The ends dripped with black as dark as the raven's feather

Her eyes sharp as the eagle on her shoulder

And her limbs filled with the tense power of a wolf

Her gaze set on the crismen land

This was a great loss

Her stories she can never tell

But her presence can be felt by all those around

The greatest loss one may never know

Pray to all that they may never have to gaze into her eyes

And accept her inevitable presence

Faces

Everywhere I look there are faces

Masked and unseen they follow me

Always in pursuit

Always I flee

Always they seem to find me

Carry on, follow suit, accept, they say

But not today

I turn

Eye to eye we finally meet

The darkness inside of me

We turn

Everywhere I look I see faces so clear

Illuminated by the light that finally appeared
